Living EAM Platform by Softplant GmbH

We are happy to announce release 1.2 of our Living EAM Platform. The new version not only includes several new features but also a number of improvements as well as some small bug-fixes.

The new features are:

  • Document Management: Attach relevant, supplementary documents to all architecture elements. In an additional tab within the architecture elements these documents are listed and available for download. Together with the ability to store links to additional information, you now have several possiblities to enrich the information of the enterprise architecture with additional sources of information.
  • Duplicating architecture elements: Now you can duplicate existing architecture elements in a simple manner with all their information and dependencies.
  • Information Flow visualisation: With the new visualisation type “information flow” you get an overview of directional dependencies in your enterprise architecture. For example, the use of an information object can be displayed graphically and interactively within the application landscape.
  • Nagios data adapter: Similar to SNMP, we provide a new data adapter for Nagios, which allows you to gather current infrastructure information about individual IT devices in an automated manner.
  • Editing annotation properties: Annotation properties are used within the Living EAM platform to add additional metadata to architecture elements via annotations. In addition to the predefined annotation properties, you now have the ability to define and edit your own annotation properties.
  • History of model changes: You are already able to customise the architecture model of the Living EAm Platform in a simple manner. The additional history of model changes now allows you to trace changes and compare different versions.

The improvements include:

  • Modified visualisation module: All existing visualization types have been unified to make the configuration of the presentation more clear and easy.
  • New user profile page: By clicking on the avatar or the username you now find a profile page of the user, which is logged in the platform.
  • Improved application icons: The set of symbols of the whole application has been reworked. All icons are revised and adapted to a unified concept.
  • Improved performance: At various points the response time of the application has been improved.
  • Updated Installation guide: The installation guide for the Living EAM Platform has been reworked to better support the installation of the Living EAM Platform.

Our contact persons are available for any querstions regarding the new features of our Living EAM Platform. In case you want to know more, we would be happy to provide you a test account for our tool.

With the new release of our Living EAM Platform we make first results of our research project Risikomanagement available for you. Our tool for a living enterprise now allows for a detailled risk analysis of your company.

The new features include:

  • Enhancement of the architecture model with respect to the IT infrastructure: Our updated architecture model now incldues several architecture elements to describe elements of your IT infrastructure (e.g. IT devices, networks and network connections, server locations and technical devices for server operations).
  • Data source SNMP: We provide a new data adapter so you can automatically update information of single IT devices using the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). Thus you can always rely on up-to-date information about your IT devices.
  • Risk analysis and display of risk classes: Today’s enterprise architectures typically include various assets of an enterprise (information, applications, IT devices, …). Using our new risk analysis module we provide a simple tool to systematically assess the risk of your asset elements with respect to vulnerabilities and threats.
  • Business Support Maps based on Business Buidling Blocks: We extend the business support maps to include maps based on business building blocks. This allows for an solely business-driven planning of changes.

Living Semantic Platform by Softplant GmbH

On the Semantics 2015 in Vienna, the 11th International Conference on Semantic Systems, we present the Living Semantic Platform – a tool for collaborative ontology development.

The Living Semantic Platform enables the collaborative development and maintenance of OWL2 ontologies. We focus on lightweight ontologies complying to the OWL2-QL profile. Data from external data sources such as SQL databases, Excel files, PDF files or XML files can be easily integrated into the ontologies. The embedded OWL2-QL reasoner allows for a high-performance query answering of SPARQL queries – even with large amounts of data.

The conference will take place September 15 to 17 2015 at the Vienna University of Economics daily from 9:00 clock.
